Recently, Connie has been working on her pitch and attended a Pitching Skills Workshop run by the HIE, it is great to see such fantastic learning opportunities coming to the Highlands!

Ever found yourself in the uncomfortable position of speaking in front of a room of silent people? Well, we have got some top tips for you to use to maximise your impact in every conversation!

  1. Analyse your audience – the purpose of a pitch is to stimulate interest. It is important to think of the audience’s expectations and what key points you want them to remember about your business.
  2. Grab their attention – Be sure to grab the attention of the audience at the beginning of the pitch using your unique selling point – otherwise they could just switch off!
  3. Call to action – Ask for what you want!
  4. Try to be relaxed – Stress can sometimes cause us to talk fast or in a manner that we wouldn’t in relaxed conversation. Let your personality shine through – people buy from people!
  5. Rehearse – Practice makes perfect!

Pitching is all about standing out from the crowd with a clear solution to a problem. Therefore, it is important that you find your own style and use your natural pace in order to deliver a captivating presentation of what you do! Happy pitching!
