Record numbers flock to Loch Ness Knit Fest 2017

Planit Scotland run Loch Ness Knit Fest on an annual basis which includes three days of workshops and presentations, crafting demonstrations, live music and other highland themed entertainment in Inverness.

The 2017 event has been deemed a great success by organisers, pulling in crowds of over 1500 people with a bigger, more varied programme than ever.

Visitors included knitters from Germany, Poland, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, New Zealand, USA, Holland, Iceland, Finland, Russia, Canada, Ireland and of course across the UK. We noted that many visitors extended their stay in the area allowing extra time to visit the sights we have here in the Highlands and get a good dose of Scottish hospitality.

This year there was a real sense of community at this year’s Loch Ness Knit Fest with many groups, businesses and knitting enthusiasts pulling together to put on a celebration of Scotland’s rich crafting history and heritage. It was a full-on three days and we really appreciate the efforts of everyone who has been involved to make this a very special, internationally recognised event.

Loch Ness Knit Fest 2017 was supported by Heathrow Airport, The Highland Council, HIE, Inverness Common Good Fund and EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate.
