#ToHelpWithMyAnxiety – And Yours!

Acknowledging bravery, honesty and vulnerability this Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental health is something that we all share, no matter what age we are, the colour of our skin, the place we live or the wealth we have – it is always there.

Yet, somehow, talking about our mental health is often considered something to be ashamed of.

Struggles with mental health can be as simple as worrying about an exam, or feeling scared of a thunderstorm. It can be sadness at missing a loved one or agitation at the prospect of a new challenge.

However, it can also be more complex. It can be the immense fear of leaving your home, or the overwhelming despair that your life is not worth living. It can include trauma or pain, loneliness or isolation.

And although society might feel more comfortable in dealing with the former grievances, there is something about the latter that people generally try to avoid confronting.

If a person is feeling sad or anxious, why wouldn’t you want to help them find a solution that helps ease their struggles, no matter how severe or minor those feelings are?

This is what inspired Team Planit to take part in this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week and its theme, #ToHelpWithMyAnxiety.

Coming together to fight the stigma

Last week, Team Planit has shown incredible bravery, honesty and vulnerability by acknowledging that we all experience anxieties in our lives, sharing with our followers the techniques we use to help manage this.

However, it is more than that. By sharing that we each experience our own fears, worries and concerns, we are doing our part to help break the stigma around discussing mental health – even if we are only playing a small role in breaking down these barriers.

We want to create a culture where our team feels safe to share their struggles, as well as their successes, knowing that when they do, they will be listened to, respected and supported – after all, they do say there’s no i in team!

As we have shared our vulnerabilities, we’ve learnt a little more about one another, making us stronger as a team. And by showing others that they are not alone, we hope to see more people speaking up about their mental health and sharing with their friends their tips, tricks and techniques #ToHelpWithMyAnxiety.

If you need support for your mental health, Team Planit has put together its top charities, organisations, resources and toolkits to help you manage the load:
