Event Management Success with Pop up Play Inverness!

Free Pop Up Play event to help kids explore their imagination

We recently partnered with Earthtime to deliver a Free Pop-up Play Event on behalf of our new client, the Highland Council’s Play Highland Committee. The event was designed to be a fun and interactive session showing the play potential in different environments, encouraging local families to use the outdoors for recreation.

Planit Scotland took on the marketing element of this event, to spread the word and ensure that no one missed out! As with all our projects, we assess what would best suit our clients needs before providing a strategic multi-channel marketing campaign that hits the targeted audience for maximum ROI. On this occasion we used a combination of both online and offline channels. First up, we branded the event so that it had an identity. The artwork we created took the colours from Play Highland’s logo so that branding remained consistent. Once signed off, the visual elements could be used via social media and to form the flyer. Said flyer was then sent to every nursery and primary child in the local community so that it landed in their school bags for parents to dig out at home. The social media activity was conducted across Facebook and Twitter on both Play Highland and Mi Inverness pages, scheduled appropriately and linked to various influencers we’d identified to help boost the reach and engagement of the each post. The press release and media pack written by our Planit Scotland team then went out as a final reminder and complimented the other marketing activity conducted in advance. All in all, based on the social analytics and turn out at the actual event, the approach worked a treat!

For one day only, the top end of church street, was transformed into a multi-area play zone to create a rich environment for kids to play within a beach, park, woodland and street scene. To add to the theatrics there were performers and activities to engage the kids while inspiring parents to think about how they could recreate the imaginative sensory play at home.

“Using found and everyday materials, not traditionally associated with playgrounds, we can make creative, social and cognitive play opportunities for kids of all ages” – Earth Time

“Play is such an important part of how we learn and build relationships with each and our surrounding environments. This event forms part of a wider strategy in Highland that aims to increase the number of children actively involved in self-directed ‘free’ play with access to the outdoors daily”. Sandra Harrington, Senior Manager Early Years and Chair of the Play Improvement Grouping.

Testimonial from the client Play Highland

“Planit Scotland were a very efficient, helpful and easy team to work with. They were proactive on our social media channels from the get go, and greatly boosted our audience numbers and engagement. Without their skilled input, we wouldn’t have had such a great turnout at our play event.”
