If you happened to spend just one day with Team Planit, you would quickly learn just how diverse our client list is. From pun-loving bakers to EV enthusiasts, logistics legends to healthcare professionals – no one day is the same for our marketing maestros.

So, when Global Energy Group approached us to help plan and promote an upcoming community engagement event at one of Scotland’s leading energy hubs – Port of Nigg – we were excited to take on the challenge. 

Although we are no stranger to working with clients from the energy sector, this particular client request came with an impressive list of actions and a limited timescale  – nothing we couldn’t handle!

The brief:

To support the planning, organisation and management of a family fun day at Port of Nigg, opening up this historic site to the local community to mark its transition from one of Scotland’s leading oil and gas energy ports, into a modern, renewable energy superhub.

With a key focus on community engagement, the goal was to to educate and inspire residents, young and old, to participate and celebrate in the Port of Nigg’s diverse landscape.

“When we first got in contact with Cecilia and Team Planit, we really didn’t know what to expect – we were going to them with a huge task in hand and very little time to pull it all together.

“However, after receiving a glowing recommendation from a friend, we knew in our gut that Planit Scotland would be the team to help us make this event a success.

“From that first point of contact with Cecilia, right through to the weeks following the event, it was clear we made the right choice.

“After listening to our brief, Cecilia transformed it, getting in touch with us quickly after our first meeting with a plan of action.

“The list seemed almost endless, containing an outreach strategy that would see stakeholders and local partners setting up educational and engaging pop-up stalls for visitors to enjoy, as well as invitations to local schools and community groups to come along to the event.

“The team also put together a PR schedule that would help promote the event, as well as celebrate the upcoming transition of the port. This included exclusive coverage on the day from Executive Magazine.

“Furthermore, the team made sure to place the event on a range of booking sites to ensure it received the attention it deserved.

“All this incredible work clearly paid off, as for the first time ever, the Port of Nigg welcomed over 1000 people.”

During the lead up to the event, Team Planit was also responsible for sourcing vendors and entertainment services to take part on the day. This included Bubble & Goose, StoreHouse Firewood Pizza, face painting by Claire Carson, Mr & Mrs Bubbles, MC Robert Donaldson and Team Challenge Company. 

In addition we managed staffing across the entire site, including key locations such as car parks, bus tops, activity areas and ticket desks. The team also ensured that all accessibility needs were met and that public liability insurances were in place.

“On the day of the event, the Team from Planit arrived bright and early to help with the set up. Our vision was to welcome everyone that either had a past connection, an interest in, or who wanted a better understanding of the future opportunities, to join us for a family friendly event.

“From start to finish, Cecilia achieved this and more. She thought of every little detail, from handing out maps on the day, to creating a VIP tour opportunity for stakeholders; from toilet and bin signage to calculating how much food was needed from vendors – we even had goody bags!

“We never imagined this event would be the success that it was, and we have Cecilia and her team to thank for it. We will certainly be back again in the future with more event planning – we cannot recommend the team enough!
